The Audi Quattro S1 is a legendary car that revolutionized the world of motoring, consolidating the prestige of the Audi brand. The Audi Quattro project began in 1977 under the guidance of Ferdinand Piech, then Audi's technical director. Three years later, the vision materialized in a car equipped with a 2.1-liter five-cylinder engine, derived from the 200 sedan, with a power of 200 hp thanks to the turbocharger with intercooler. The real revolution, however, was the constant-mesh all-wheel drive system, obtained with a central differential that distributed the drive torque evenly between the two axles. This feature, together with the possibility of manually locking the rear and center differentials, made the Audi Quattro an unbeatable car on the most difficult terrain.
The Quattro's career can be divided into three main phases, each characterised by a specific model:

WR (1980-1987): The first version, available in various configurations, was the basis for the Group B rally versions, protagonists of those "crazy" years. This model has become a true symbol of motor racing.

MB (1987-1989): With an increased displacement of 2,226cc and more generous torque, this version introduced a centre differential that could automatically send up to 75% of the torque to the axle with greater traction, further improving stability and performance.

RR (1989-1991): The final version of the Quattro, with 220 hp thanks to an updated 4-valve-per-cylinder engine head and a larger intercooler. Externally, it was distinguished by its double exhaust pipe.
The Audi Quattro S1 was produced in a limited run of just 11,452 units, but its legacy lives on among sports car and classic car enthusiasts.
